The Explora 1 car seat range is designed for children from 9kg to 18kg in weight in a forward facing position. Remember it is safer for your child to travel rearward facing for as long as possible so don’t rush him or her into a forward facing seat too early. Although a baby can start using the seat forward facing seat once he or she matches the minimum criteria of 7 months old, sitting unaided for 20 mins and over 9kg in weight the most infant carriers are suitable upto 13kg in weight. This means that on average the child can remain rearward facing for between 9 –12 months. All car seats in this group feature 5 point harness’ with an easy one pull tensioning system, and are height adjustable for the height of your child. They also recline into either 3,4 or 5 positions for extra comfort especially on longer journeys or if the child is sleeping. These seats are then split by those using the car seat belt for securing into the car and those using the Isofix mounting system present in many of the more modern models. All the Isofix car seats can also be secured into a car using the seat belts also. All the Britax seats in this range are equipped with the Si side impact protection system for added security for the occupant.

Eclipse Si |

The Eclipse Si is the entry level group 1 seat in the Britax range. It still incorporates 5 recline positions on a slim base for those cars with narrow sports type seats aswell as fitting the more regular flat bench type. This seat is also one of the few that can be installed into a car using not only the regular 3 point (lap and diagonal) seat belt but also a 2 point lap belt, especially useful for older cars with a lap belt only. Eclipse Si Ultra |

The Eclipse Si Ultra has all the features of the standard Si version with the inclusion of the Ultra seat covers. These feature more padded fabrics with the Britax “Comfi- Cool” system. This fabric uses several layers of soft mesh, breathable fabrics that enhance the air flow around the body and as such keep your child cooler and more comfortable when in the seat for extended periods. |
| Renaissance Si |

The Renaissance was Britax’ first seat to incorporate the Si system. It also incorporates the Adjusta fit shoulder harness adjustment meaning that the straps do not have to be removed to move to a higher or lower height position. The Renaissance also fits using a 3 point lap and shoulder car seat belt but also features a belt tensioner so an even more secure fit can be obtained. Again in a selection of colours |
| Duo Plus Isofix |

The Duo Plus seat was the first forward facing Isofix on the market. It incorporates the Adjusta fit harness system as found on the Renaissance. The Isofix system means that any doubt as to a correct installation can be eliminated as the seat simply latches onto metal bars already present in most modern cars. The VW Golf was the first car to have Isofix points fitted as standard back in 1997 and this system has been widely adopted since, please check your car handbook or consult your dealer for confirmation to their availability in your vehicle. This seat is vehicle specific so can only be fitted into a car were it has been crash tested in, a list is available on the Britax website “Fit-Finder” service. Some vehicles also require a top tether strap as a third fixing point, again Fit Finder advises on this. A BMW pad is also required for BMW cars and this is simply a padded insert to place under the seat cover. The Duo Plus can also be fitted into cars without Isofix fittings using the the lap and diagonal seat belts installed in the car. It also features the Comfi cool fabrics for added comfort. |

The Explora Isofix is the newest Isofix seat in the range. Unlike the Duo Plus this seat is a semi universal fitting Isofix seat this means that it is approved to fit almost all isofix cars. This is due to it having 3 attachment points due to the extendible leg at the front, please check on the Fit Finder service especially if you have a car with under floor storage compartments. This leg eliminates any forward movement in an accident. The shoulder harness and head pad are adjustable from the front meaning the seat does not have to be removed for adjustment to take place, this is even more practicle for people using the seat at different times for different children. It has a 4 position recline and comes in the Comfi cool fabrics. It also has a harness strap indicator so a correctly tensioned harness can be acquired at all times. |
